A private family ranch located near Aspen, Colorado is seeking a highly experienced Ranch Manager to oversee the full operation, maintenance, and stewardship of a 200-acre mountain property. This role requires a seasoned professional who understands the unique demands of high-altitude ranch living, seasonal weather challenges, and luxury estate standards.
The Ranch Manager will be responsible for the care and preservation of a 12,000 sq. ft. main residence, guest house, ranch infrastructure, and surrounding land while managing domestic staff, vendors, and property operations year-round. Should be comfortable around children and pets and have a service heart.
This position is ideal for a proactive, hands-on leader who takes pride in maintaining a pristine property, anticipates seasonal needs, and ensures seamless operations in a remote mountain environment.
Position Overview
The Ranch Manager will oversee all ranch operations, property maintenance, and staff supervision while ensuring the estate remains secure, fully functional, and prepared for seasonal transitions and principal visits.
Key Responsibilities
Ranch & Property Operations

Oversee daily operations and maintenance of the 200-acre ranch and all structures

Maintain the 12,000 sq. ft. primary residence and guest house to luxury standards

Ensure ranch infrastructure is fully operational (roads, drainage, fencing, gates, barns, utilities)

Maintain water systems, wells, irrigation, and septic systems
-
Monitor and maintain driveways, private roads, and snow routes
Seasonal & Weather Preparedness

Develop proactive seasonal maintenance plans
-
Prepare property for heavy snow, freezing temperatures, and storm conditions

Coordinate snow removal and winter access logistics
-
Manage fire mitigation, defensible space, and emergency preparedness
-
Prepare structures and systems for seasonal transitions
Grounds & Land Stewardship
-
Oversee pasture management, landscaping, tree health, and erosion control

Maintain trails, fencing, and perimeter security
-
Monitor wildlife activity and implement protective measures as needed

Ensure environmental stewardship and sustainable land practices
Staff & Vendor Management
-
Hire, supervise, and schedule domestic staff and ranch personnel
-
Manage housekeepers, maintenance staff, and seasonal support teams

Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers
-
Oversee project work, preventative maintenance, and capital improvements
-
Ensure vendors meet quality, safety, and discretion standards
Estate & Household Management

Maintain residences to impeccable standards of cleanliness and readiness

Coordinate deep cleaning, preventative maintenance, and inventory management

Assist with property readiness for principal and guest arrivals

Manage household systems, supplies, and service schedules
Mechanical & Equipment Oversight

Maintain ranch equipment, tools, and vehicles

Oversee servicing and maintenance schedules

Operatively use tractors, snow removal equipment, UTVs, and ranch machinery

Troubleshoot systems and coordinate repairs when needed
Security & Property Monitoring

Maintain security systems and surveillance

Conduct regular property inspections

Monitor access points and oversee gate/security protocols
Budgeting & Administrative Duties

Track maintenance schedules and service records
-
Assist with budget tracking and cost control

Maintain vendor contracts and service logs

Provide regular property status reports to principals/family office
Qualifications
Required:
-
Prior experience managing large private ranches or luxury estates
-
Experience working in Aspen or similar high-altitude mountain environments
-
Strong understanding of seasonal weather challenges and infrastructure needs

Hands-on mechanical, maintenance, and property systems knowledge
-
Experience supervising staff and managing vendors
-
Ability to operate ranch equipment and heavy machinery

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred:

Experience managing properties over 100 acres

Knowledge of wildfire mitigation and land stewardship practices

Familiarity with smart home systems and estate technology

Project management and renovation oversight experience
Regional & Luxury Estate Experience Encouraged
