Puerto Rico - Montessori Homeschool Teaching Assistant
HNW family seeks a full-time, multi-lingual, local Teaching Assistant for a Montessori homeschool pod, based in Dorado, PR. The Teaching Assistant will lead the pod during periods when the Lead Teacher is traveling.
The ideal candidate is college-educated and experienced with a background in early childhood/elementary education (or equivalent), and/or is Montessori and STEAM/STEM prepared. You possess a life-long learner mentality. You are energetic, enthusiastic, in good health, active, kind, and warm. You are an adventurous and inquisitive person, willing to try new things, and naturally wanting to engage young minds and energies by developing and/or organizing activities that nurture creative spirits and stimulate a love for learning.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, discreet, emotionally mature, and balanced individual, who does not smoke or do drugs, drinks little, and has interests and hobbies they enjoy whilst not at work. They are self-aware and invest in their personal and professional development. Travel may be required.
Duration: Long-term, 1-3 years.
Start date: As soon as possible, immediate.
Schedule: 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning: Assist the Principal Teacher with the design, creation, and implementation of educational materials and activities for 4-5-year-olds, aligned with the student's learning objectives and interests, using Montessori, STEAM/STEM approaches, and/or other pedagogical philosophies as approved by parents.
- Classroom design and set up: Co-design and implement the classroom layout, including assisting with the selection of materials and supplies for approval and submitting orders, tracking supplies, and inventory.
- Instruction: Co-teaching lessons in various subjects, providing explanations, and demonstrations, and facilitating discussions.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Implementing assessments to gauge students’ understanding of concepts through tests, quizzes, projects, or informal assessments to track progress.
- Individualized Instruction: Tailoring teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of each student in the pod.
- Classroom Management: Establishing routines, behavioral management and redirection, and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Communication with Parents: With the Principal Teacher, keeping parents informed about students' progress, challenges, and achievements through regular updates and meetings.
- Support for Special Needs: Implementing speci?c accommodations needed by individual students within the

- Health and Safety: Ensuring students' physical and emotional well-being, including implementing safety protocols and responding to
- Documentation and Reporting: Assisting with records of attendance, assessments, and progress reports as required by homeschooling regulations or agreements with parents.
- Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional growth and development to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends and practices.
Requirements:
- Local candidate preferred.
- BA or higher, preferable in Education.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a teacher or teaching assistant.
- Certification in Montessori or Waldorf is a plus.
- English required, bilingual in Spanish or French is desirable.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must pass a detailed criminal background check.
- NDA/Confidentiality Agreement required.
- Must have verifiable professional references.
Salary and Benefits:
Attractive annual base salary range: $80-90K Additional bene?ts/incentives:
- Monthly health insurance stipend ($200/month)
- Continuing ed stipend (up to $2000 annually upon successful completion of courses)

- Annual discretionary, performance-based bonuses (no less than 5% of base salary),
- Eligibility for a retention bonus ($10K) if the employee remains continuously employed with the Family for a period of two (2) years from the date of hire.
