Location: Upper East Side, New York City
Position: Full-Time, Live-Out Housekeeper
Schedule: Monday through Friday, generally 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with flexibility
Compensation: $45–$55 per hour | $93,600–$114,400 annually, based on a 40-hour workweek

Position Overview

A wonderful opportunity is available for an experienced, polished, and professional Housekeeper to support a distinguished international businessman at his elegant private residence on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Our client is a highly successful, respected gentleman of Indian heritage who divides his time between New York City and London. We are looking for an experienced Housekeeper who is confident managing the day-to-day housekeeping responsibilities of a beautiful private residence. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while communicating effectively with the principal and his household team in London.

The residence is elegant and beautifully maintained, and our client appreciates a thoughtful, professional approach to housekeeping, wardrobe care, and the overall presentation of his home.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Household Presentation

• Full housekeeping responsibilities, maintaining the residence to exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation.

• Detailed cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and maintaining fine furnishings, surfaces, and household items.

• Preparing the residence ahead of the principal's arrival, ensuring everything is beautifully presented and ready for his return.

• Maintaining bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and all living areas.

• Following established housekeeping best practices and appropriate care procedures for delicate surfaces, fabrics, and furnishings.

• Maintaining housekeeping supplies, inventories, and household essentials.

Laundry, Wardrobe & Personal Care

• Full responsibility for the principal's personal laundry, including washing, steaming, pressing, folding, and appropriate garment care.

• Managing all dry cleaning, including drop-offs, collections, and maintaining relationships with trusted local providers.

• Packing and unpacking for domestic and international travel.

• Maintaining and organizing wardrobes, closets, shoes, accessories, and personal belongings.

• Ensuring clothing and personal items are properly cared for, organized, and ready when needed.

Household Coordination & Service

• Communicating clearly and professionally with the principal and his household team in London.

• Working alongside the Private Chef to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the residence.

• Assisting with table settings, light table service, and preparing for occasional lunches, business meetings, or afternoon gatherings.

• Maintaining household inventories and anticipating the principal's needs.

• Coordinating occasional errands, deliveries, flowers, and other household requirements.

• Ensuring the residence remains beautifully maintained and prepared, whether the principal is in New York or traveling.

Local Knowledge & Experience

Our client would particularly appreciate someone who knows Manhattan exceptionally well, especially the Upper East Side.

The ideal candidate will have established knowledge of excellent local dry cleaners, florists, specialty food shops, restaurants, takeout establishments, and other trusted service providers.

We are looking for someone who is resourceful, well-connected, and confident navigating New York City. Someone who can anticipate a need, make a recommendation, and take care of the details without requiring constant direction.

Ideal Candidate

• Previous, verifiable experience working as a Housekeeper within a sophisticated private residence.

• Experience supporting a business professional, international principal, or private household would be highly valued.

• Excellent laundry, steaming, pressing, wardrobe care, and organizational skills.

• A clear command of the English language, with excellent verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable communicating with an international household team.

• Confident working independently, managing priorities, and maintaining high standards without supervision.

• Polished, discreet, loyal, trustworthy, and respectful of the principal's privacy.

• A warm, professional demeanor and a genuine appreciation for private household service.

• Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with occasional changes to the schedule.

• Excellent knowledge of Manhattan and local household service providers.

• Outstanding, verifiable professional references.

• Must be a U.S. resident with legal authorization to work in the United States.

Schedule, Compensation & Benefits

The general schedule will be Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexibility depending on the principal's travel schedule and household requirements.

As the principal divides his time between New York and London, there may be opportunities for shorter working days when he is traveling. However, the residence must always be maintained to an exceptional standard and ready for his return.

Compensation: $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, equivalent to approximately $93,600–$114,400 annually, based on a 40-hour workweek.

Any hours worked beyond 40 per week will be compensated in accordance with applicable New York overtime requirements.
