TRAVELING PRIVATE CHEF

Atlanta, Georgia | Extensive Domestic & International Travel

Georgia candidates only at this time or candidates with a connection to the area. No relocation available for now.

Salary: $150,000–$175,000 depending on experience
Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off
Benefits: Health Insurance | Travel Accommodations | Housing Provided While Traveling

We are working with a highly private UHNW principal based in Atlanta who is looking to engage an experienced Private Chef to join and support a growing household and estate operation.

This is a fully staffed private home, with Butlers, Housekeepers, additional household professionals, and other culinary support, including additional Chefs at times. We are therefore looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a team, communicates well, and understands that everyone works together toward the same goal.

The principal travels extensively between multiple residences and business commitments and utilizes private aviation. For that reason, we are looking for someone who is incredibly flexible, organized, adaptable, and understands that no two weeks may look exactly the same.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of prior private household experience and understand the nuances of working directly for a private principal. Someone who can read the room, take direction, adapt to changing preferences, and quietly go about their responsibilities while consistently producing wonderful food would be ideal.

This is not necessarily about overly elaborate or complicated cuisine every day. The principal enjoys a broad variety of food and is looking for a Chef who can prepare fresh, healthy, beautifully presented meals while equally understanding good comfort food.

Cuisine preferences include:

  • Modern American
  • Southern and Cajun-inspired cuisine
  • Italian
  • Asian-inspired dishes
  • Healthy, wellness-focused cooking
  • Fresh seasonal ingredients and quality proteins
  • Elevated comfort food

We are looking for someone versatile who understands that one evening may call for something very clean, healthy, and simple, while another may involve entertaining or a more elevated dinner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chef will take ownership of the principal's day-to-day culinary needs while working collaboratively with the other Chef and household team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing daily meals for the principal and, from time to time, family members and guests
  • Developing menus around the principal's preferences, schedule, travel, and dietary goals
  • Learning preferences and continually adapting menus accordingly
  • Sourcing the freshest and highest-quality ingredients available
  • Grocery shopping, provisioning, and maintaining appropriate food inventories
  • Keeping refrigerators, freezers, pantries, and kitchens exceptionally clean and organized
  • Preparing for travel and ensuring appropriate food and provisions are available upon arrival
  • Supporting the principal during production weeks and particularly busy periods
  • Preparing meals within different residences and travel environments
  • Assisting with culinary needs surrounding private aviation when required
  • Preparing dinners and assisting with entertaining and occasional special events
  • Maintaining recipes, preference notes, inventories, and systems so there is consistency regardless of location
  • Working alongside Butlers, Housekeepers, Chefs, Assistants, Estate personnel, and other household professionals
  • Communicating effectively with the household team and understanding that this is very much a collaborative environment
  • Anticipating needs and planning ahead rather than waiting to be directed

A team mentality is essential. We are not looking for someone who views the kitchen as an isolated department. The successful Chef should be willing to communicate, collaborate, lend a hand when appropriate, and appreciate the contribution of everyone within the household.

SCHEDULE & FLEXIBILITY

The position operates on a 7-day-on / 7-day-off rotation with another Private Chef.

When the principal is in Atlanta and there is no significant entertaining or production activity, the working week can be relatively normal, generally in the range of 40–50 hours during the seven-day rotation.

Flexability with schedule when traveling. When traveling with the principal, candidates should expect longer days, changing schedules, and greater flexibility. Flights, meetings, production schedules, entertaining, and last-minute changes can all impact the day.

(Someone who needs a highly structured start and finish time would probably not be the right fit for this position)

TRAVEL

Extensive domestic and international travel is an important part of this position.

Travel Eligibility: Candidates must hold a valid U.S. passport or have the appropriate legal documentation and authorization permitting unrestricted international travel and legal re-entry into the United States. Due to the extensive travel requirements of this position, candidates must be able to travel internationally without restrictions or complications.

Candidates must genuinely enjoy traveling and be comfortable packing up, moving between residences, working from unfamiliar kitchens, sourcing ingredients in different cities or countries, and quickly establishing themselves wherever the principal may be.

All appropriate accommodations will be provided while traveling.

ATLANTA CANDIDATES

At this time, we have expanded the search nationally.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are particularly interested in meeting a Chef who is:

  • Experienced within UHNW private households
  • An excellent cook with a broad culinary repertoire
  • Organized and capable of planning several steps ahead
  • Knowledgeable about provisioning, sourcing, and inventory management
  • Comfortable traveling extensively
  • Flexible when schedules or plans change
  • Calm and solutions-oriented
  • Polished without being overly formal
  • Respectful of privacy and confidentiality
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and adjusting accordingly
  • Able to work independently without requiring constant direction
  • A genuine team player who works well with Butlers, Housekeepers, other Chefs, and household professionals
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable maintaining recipes, inventories, preferences, and household information
  • Interested in contributing to and helping build a long-term culinary program

Personality is equally important. We are looking for someone positive, willing, professional, discreet, flexible, and easy to have around. The principal leads a very busy life, so the ability to understand when interaction is appropriate and when to quietly work in the background will be important.

BACKGROUND & REFERENCES

Due to the highly confidential nature of this household, the vetting process will be extensive.

Candidates must have impeccable, verifiable professional references to be considered. All finalists should expect a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening, driving-record review, reference verification, and additional due diligence appropriate for a highly confidential UHNW household.

Candidates should only apply if they are comfortable participating fully in this process.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 depending on experience

The position also includes:

  • Health insurance
  • Travel accommodations
  • Housing/accommodations while traveling
  • Extensive domestic and international travel
  • 7-on / 7-off rotational schedule

This could be a wonderful opportunity for a talented Private Chef who enjoys travel, understands private service, works well as part of a fully staffed household, and wants to become part of a growing operation. The principal is looking for someone long-term who can learn his preferences, create consistency wherever he travels, and become a trusted member of the team.

Due to the confidential nature of the position, qualified candidates will be required to sign an NDA.
