PRIVATE CHEF: PART-TIME: Puerto Rico, San Juan/Dorado
PRIVATE CHEF: PART-TIME: Puerto Rico, San Juan/Dorado
Puerto Rico | Guaranteed 20 Hours Per Week | $1,000 Weekly
A young entrepreneur and his brother are seeking an experienced, personable Private Chef to provide part-time culinary support at their residence in Puerto Rico.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a talented chef seeking a consistent, long-term part-time position with guaranteed income. The family is committing to 20 hours per week at $1,000 weekly ($50/hour), guaranteed 52 weeks per year, regardless of whether the principal is in residence.
The principal is U.S.-based and spends a significant portion of the year in Puerto Rico. His Family Office is highly organized, respectful, and will coordinate schedules and anticipated visits in advance. Flexibility with scheduling is appreciated.
Cuisine & Daily Expectations
The principal enjoys fresh, clean, organic, low-carbohydrate cuisine, utilizing the freshest locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. This is not an overly formal household. The focus is on excellent, approachable food prepared exceptionally well.
When the principal is in residence, the Chef will be responsible for providing three meals per day, with the ability to plan and prepare ahead:
- Breakfast: May be prepared in advance and left for reheating, such as a frittata or breakfast burrito, along with fresh fruit. Coffee should be set up and ready to start automatically in the morning.
- Lunch: Typically simple and fresh—a salad, sandwich, wrap, or similar light meal. This can be prepared, labeled and Mr. can serve himself.
- Dinner: Generally a fresh salad, grilled fish or another protein, freshly grilled vegetables, fruit, and something simple such as a cookie for dessert.
- Refrigerator staples: Maintain small quantities of freshly prepared chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, and other convenient items for the principal to enjoy as needed.
The Chef should be comfortable preparing everyday favorites such as fish and seafood, chicken, hamburgers, pastas, salads, sandwiches and wraps while keeping the overall approach healthy, fresh, organic, and lower in carbohydrates.
When family members or guests are visiting, the Chef should be able to elevate the level of service and culinary presentation as appropriate. The ability to prepare fresh baked goods, muffins, homemade protein bars, pastries, cakes, and desserts would be highly valued.
The principal is Jewish but non-practicing. Familiarity with Jewish cuisine and traditional Jewish food preparations would be advantageous but is not required.
Responsibilities

- Plan menus and anticipate meals based on the principal's schedule.
- Prepare and leave meals ahead when appropriate.
- Grocery shop and source excellent local ingredients.
- Maintain pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and kitchen inventories.
- Keep the refrigerator thoughtfully stocked with appropriate fresh prepared foods.
- Maintain an exceptionally clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen.
- Set the table and provide simple meal service as needed.
- Prepare meals or snacks on the fly when requested.
- Accommodate family members and guests and elevate service when entertaining.
- Maintain excellent personal and professional hygiene.
- Keep track of the principal's preferences, favorite foods, ingredients, and regularly used items.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is approachable, discreet, organized, proactive, adaptable, and an excellent planner, with previous private household or comparable culinary experience.
A clear command of English is required. The principal is busy and appreciates someone who is pleasant and approachable while also understanding when to work quietly and independently without unnecessary interaction.
This position requires someone who can anticipate needs and keep the kitchen running seamlessly. The Chef should know what needs to be purchased, prepared, replenished, or organized without requiring constant direction.
Candidates who are already based in Puerto Rico, are familiar with the island and its food suppliers, or have an established connection to Puerto Rico are strongly encouraged to apply.
