A private family in East Hampton is seeking an experienced Private Chef for a seasonal opportunity from August 1 through October 7. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys preparing fresh, high-quality, approachable cuisine in a relaxed family environment.
The family is seeking someone who takes pride in consistently delivering delicious meals using quality ingredients. This is not a fine-dining or Michelin-style position—there is no "tweezer food" or overly elaborate presentation. Instead, the focus is on elevated comfort food and classic Hamptons fare prepared to an exceptional standard.
The Position
You will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily for four adults, while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen.
Although meals are served daily, the family will occasionally dine out, and advance notice will always be provided. During these times, the Chef will prepare meals, snacks, and refreshments to be available in the refrigerator for the family's convenience.

On occasion, the family may order sushi or catered food, in which case the Chef will assist with presentation and table preparation.
Entertaining
The family periodically hosts casual weekend dinner parties. During these occasions, additional service staff and bartenders may be brought in, and the Chef may work alongside an assistant to support food preparation, service, and cleanup.
Responsibilities
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily for four adults.
- Plan menus in collaboration with the family.
- Purchase groceries and source the highest-quality seasonal ingredients.
- Maintain food inventories and household pantry supplies.
- Ensure beverages, bottled water, and household staples remain fully stocked.
- Maintain an impeccably clean and organized kitchen at all times.
- Properly store food and prepare snacks and ready-to-eat meals for the family.
- Coordinate with household staff regarding entertaining and special events.
- Manage food costs responsibly while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Maintain all kitchen equipment and ensure food safety standards are consistently followed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Private Chef in a private residence.
- Strong references from private households.
- Clean criminal background.
- Professional, discreet, and service-oriented.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable preparing approachable, high-quality family meals rather than formal tasting menus.
- Knowledge of seasonal produce and fresh local ingredients.
- Familiarity with the Hamptons is highly preferred, including navigating local roads efficiently and knowing the best specialty markets, fishmongers, butcher shops, and produce suppliers.
Compensation & Accommodation
- $600–$700 per day, depending on experience.
- Seasonal position from August 1 through October 7.
- Live-out candidates are strongly preferred.
- A private bedroom and bathroom may be available for the right candidate if live-in accommodations are required.
