A busy family in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced and talented Private Chef to join their household. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing healthy, diverse, casual daily meals for a family. This position requires flexibility, as the family travels extensively to Charleston, Palm Beach, Nantucket in the summer and other destinations. The family includes two young children, a new baby on the way, and four older children from previous relationships who are in boarding school, home during the holidays. The chef will be expected to prepare meals for the family while adapting to their busy and dynamic lifestyle. The family would like to source local Austin/Texas-based candidates initially, then expand the search.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals for the family, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a regular basis, focusing on healthy and delicious meals that cater to a variety of tastes. The family are traditional Texans and enjoy family-style meals, presented beautifully on a daily basis. When needed during the holidays or entertaining, the Chef needs to be able to impress. There are support staff in place; the Chief of Staff is a trained chef who can cover on the chef's days off.
- Plan and prepare meals that accommodate the family’s dietary preferences, including fresh fish, meats, soups, salads, and snacks for both children and adults. Simple staff meals: cold cuts, salad items, ect.
- Ensure that all meals are presented beautifully and meet high culinary standards, considering the family’s lifestyle and preferences.
- Travel with the family to various locations, including Charleston, Palm Beach, and Nantucket, ensuring the same level of meal quality and consistency while on the go.
- Work closely with the family and household staff to ensure smooth meal preparation and coordination.
- Accommodate occasional special events, dinner parties, and large family gatherings.
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and ensure proper food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Private Chef, ideally with a background in high-end homes, resorts, or working with high-profile clients.
- Strong expertise in Mediterranean cuisine and a passion for healthy, balanced cooking.
- Experience preparing meals for children and adults with varying dietary preferences.
- Flexibility to adjust to a fast-paced, ever-changing schedule, including extensive travel with the family.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with household staff.
- Ability to pass a detailed background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Outstanding, verifiable references.
Compensation:
- Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Housing Stipend: Provided.
- Benefits: Medical insurance.
- Travel: Required to accompany the family to Charleston, Palm Beach, and Nantucket during the summer, as well as other destinations as needed.
