Position Overview

International Domestic Consulting is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly capable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide personalized care, companionship, and administrative support to a private client in Houston, Texas.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a professional who has direct experience working in private residences and understands the importance of discretion, excellent communication, and maintaining a respectful, comfortable environment.

The position is full-time, live-out, generally Monday through Friday, with a 40-hour workweek. Some flexibility with scheduling and occasional weekend coverage will be required.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on medical care experience and strong Personal Assistant skills. We are looking for someone who is confident, organized, personable, physically capable, and comfortable working within a fully staffed private household.

Candidates should be familiar with Houston and the surrounding areas, confident coordinating local appointments, transportation, and services, and comfortable working alongside an established domestic team.

This is not simply a traditional caregiving position. The role requires someone who can confidently support the client's medical, personal, administrative, and social needs while maintaining a professional and thoughtful approach.

Medical & Personal Care Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, professional, hands-on care while respecting the client's independence, dignity, and personal preferences.

  • Confidently monitor and document vital signs, changes in behavior, mobility, diet, and general well-being.

  • Maintain accurate daily care notes, medical records, and reports.

  • Communicate clearly with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding relevant changes or concerns.

  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and personal care as required.

  • Must be physically capable and confident using gait belts, Hoyer lifts, and other appropriate mobility equipment, with proper training and safe transfer techniques.

  • Work cooperatively with other caregivers, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication.

  • Potentially assist with coordinating schedules, supervising caregivers, and managing the daily activities of the care team.

All medical responsibilities must be performed within the candidate's professional qualifications and applicable scope of practice.

Personal Assistant & Administrative Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be comfortable supporting the client's day-to-day administrative and personal needs, including:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Confidence using Apple products, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers.

  • Managing emails, assisting with correspondence, and preparing written communications.

  • Answering telephone calls, taking accurate messages, maintaining notes, and sharing important information with the client.

  • Assisting with text messages and communication with children, grandchildren, friends, and extended family members.

  • Managing calendars, appointments, reminders, and personal schedules.

  • Creating reports, maintaining records, and organizing relevant documents.

  • Coordinating appointments, transportation, and daily activities.

  • Working closely with household staff to ensure appointments, visitors, and daily arrangements run smoothly.

An excellent command of English, both written and verbal, is essential. Candidates must be able to communicate clearly, prepare accurate written reports, manage correspondence, and interact professionally with family members, physicians, and household staff.

Companionship & Social Engagement

An important part of this position is helping the client maintain an active, enjoyable, and socially connected lifestyle.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Coordinating visits with friends and family.

  • Organizing afternoon coffee, card games, and other social activities within the residence.

  • Assisting with invitations, scheduling, and arrangements for guests.

  • Coordinating social outings, appointments, and recreational activities throughout the Houston area.

  • Providing thoughtful companionship and encouraging appropriate social engagement.

  • Ensuring the client feels supported, included, and comfortable throughout the day.

The ideal candidate will understand the balance between being attentive and available while also respecting the client's privacy, independence, and personal space.

Working Within a Fully Staffed Residence

The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an established, fully staffed private household.

This requires a clear understanding of professional boundaries, discretion, teamwork, and respectful communication.

You should be confident coordinating with House Managers, Housekeepers, Chefs, other caregivers, and service professionals while understanding your own responsibilities and respecting those of the wider household team.

Previous experience working in formal or semi-formal private residences would be particularly appealing.

Professional Background & Requirements

We are particularly interested in candidates who offer the following:

  • Current CNA certification or LPN licensure, as applicable to Texas.

  • Previous, verifiable experience working privately with an individual or family.

  • Direct Personal Assistant or substantial administrative support experience.

  • Experience working in fully staffed private households, with an understanding of professional boundaries, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Familiarity with Houston, its surrounding communities, local services, and medical facilities.

  • Strong medical observation, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office and Apple technology.

  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

  • Physical ability to safely assist with mobility and transfers.

  • A confident, calm, professional, and approachable personality.

  • Strong common sense, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate needs.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with an established caregiving team and potentially assist with team coordination.

  • Flexibility to accommodate occasional weekend coverage or adjustments to the normal Monday–Friday schedule.

  • Excellent, verifiable professional references are required.

  • A demonstrated history of reliability, professionalism, and longevity in previous positions.

  • Availability to begin employment within the next month.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 + DOE

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, with some flexibility and occasional weekend coverage.

Health Benefits: Eligible for health benefits following successful completion of the trial period, subject to the employer's benefit arrangements.

Start Date: Within the next month.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is medically confident but also brings the polish, organization, and communication skills of an experienced Personal Assistant.

Someone who can comfortably take vital signs, prepare a care report, communicate with a physician, manage an email, coordinate a family visit, and organize an afternoon gathering with friends.

A professional who understands that supporting a private client involves much more than medical care. It requires patience, good judgment, attention to detail, flexibility, and a genuine appreciation for helping someone enjoy their daily life.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States to apply.

How to Apply

Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit a current résumé outlining their private care experience, medical qualifications, Personal Assistant and administrative skills, and relevant professional references.

Only candidates with excellent references, strong written and verbal English communication skills, and relevant private household experience will be considered.
