Position: French-Speaking Nanny / Family Assistant
An English-speaking, Texas-based family seeking a French-speaking (Francophone) nanny to care for their five-year-old son, assist with the arrival of a newborn, and help with various family-related tasks. The mother is a busy journalist who works from home, while the father visits monthly.
The family is looking for someone who is kind, flexible, and trustworthy, and who is open to working a day shift, as the mother needs a quiet environment during her workday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing care and developmental support for their well-behaved five-year-old son.
- Preparing lunches and performing light cleaning tasks.
- Running errands and assisting with meal preparation.
- Walking the family’s small dog.
- Assisting the child with his homework, particularly in French, as he is attending a French school and is still learning the language.
- Cooking skills are a plus but not required.
- Providing essential newborn care, including feeding, diapering, bathing, and ensuring the baby’s safety and well-being, while also assisting with household tasks related to the baby.
There may be opportunities for additional hours, including overnight shifts and travel, for which extra pay will be provided. The family is open to the role evolving over time.
Ideal Candidate:
- Ideally Fluent in French and English to support the child’s language development.
- Possesses common sense and is aware of the household’s needs, especially during the mother’s Zoom calls or writing sessions.
- A warm, nurturing individual with experience in childcare and a passion for working with children.
- Flexible and willing to travel with the family on occasion (must have a valid passport).
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 D.O.E.
