Salary: $85,000 Annually
Accommodation: Private Apartment Provided
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with flexibility

Position Overview

A wonderful, informal family based in Aguadilla, on the northwest coast of Puerto Rico, is seeking an experienced, warm, energetic, and professional Live-In Nanny / Family Assistant to support their three young children, ages 18 months, 3 years, and 5 years.

This is a lovely opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, understands early childhood development, and is comfortable combining hands-on childcare with light household responsibilities and the coordination of other household staff.

The family maintains a casual household and is looking for someone who is kind, patient, organized, dependable, and confident taking initiative.

The ideal candidate will have a background in childcare, ideally with knowledge/understanding of Montessori, Waldorf, or similar child-centered educational approaches, encouraging creativity, independence, interactive play, and age-appropriate learning.

Childcare Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, nurturing, and engaging care for three young children.

  • Plan age-appropriate educational activities, creative play, arts and crafts, reading, and outdoor activities.

  • Encourage learning through play, exploration, and practical everyday activities.

  • Support developmental milestones, independence, positive behavior, and healthy daily routines.

  • Manage screen time, encouraging meaningful interaction and hands-on learning.

  • Assist with meals, snacks, feeding routines, and maintaining children's schedules.

  • Keep children's bedrooms, playrooms, toys, and personal belongings clean, tidy, and organized.

  • Manage children's laundry, wardrobes, and seasonal clothing.

  • Assist with outings, appointments, and children's activities as needed.

  • Work closely with the parents to maintain consistency with the family's preferences and parenting approach.

Household & Staff Management Responsibilities

This is not exclusively a childcare position. The family is looking for someone who is equally comfortable assisting with the general daily running of the household and supporting the management of other staff members.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with light housekeeping, general tidying, and maintaining an organized household.

  • Prepare simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children and assist with family meal preparation when needed.

  • Support the daily coordination of household staff and other team members.

  • Assist with scheduling, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring household tasks are completed to the family's expectations.

  • Help maintain clear communication between the family and household support staff.

  • Take initiative in identifying household needs and ensuring daily routines run smoothly.

  • Work alongside other staff members in a respectful, collaborative, and hands-on manner.

  • Maintain household supplies, children's necessities, and basic inventories.

The family is looking for someone who can provide gentle but confident leadership, hold team members accountable, and ensure responsibilities are completed without creating an overly formal household environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Prior professional nanny, childcare, family assistant, or private household experience.

  • Experience caring for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children.

  • A genuine interest in early childhood education and development.

  • Montessori, Waldorf, or similar educational experience is highly desirable.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

  • Comfortable managing and coordinating other household staff.

  • Willingness to assist with light housekeeping and simple meal preparation.

  • Warm, positive, patient, and engaging personality.

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and maintain professional boundaries.

  • Flexible, dependable, discreet, and comfortable working in an informal family environment.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Candidates who are not fluent in Spanish but are genuinely willing to learn will also be considered.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Puerto Rico.

Accommodation & Compensation

The family is offering a salary of $85,000 annually, together with a private apartment at the residence.

The apartment provides private living accommodations, including its own bathroom and separate entrance, allowing the successful candidate to enjoy privacy and independence outside working hours.

The normal schedule will be Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility as needed. Additional scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Location & Relocation

Preference will be given to candidates already living in Puerto Rico, particularly those familiar with Aguadilla and the northwest region of the island.

However, the family is open to considering qualified candidates throughout the United States who have a connection to Puerto Rico, are interested in relocating, and understand the lifestyle and culture of the island.

Candidates who speak Spanish or are enthusiastic about learning the language are encouraged to apply.

The Ideal Candidate

This opportunity would be particularly well suited to an experienced Nanny, Family Assistant, or childcare professional who enjoys a combination of hands-on childcare, household organization, and light staff management.

The family is not looking for someone who simply supervises the children. They would love to find someone who becomes a trusted part of the household, brings creative ideas, encourages learning and development, and helps maintain a happy, organized, and well-run home.

Someone with a genuine love of children, a calm and positive demeanor, good judgment, and the confidence to lead by example would be ideal.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their résumé, professional references, and a brief introduction outlining their childcare experience, educational background, Spanish-language ability, and interest in relocating to or working in Puerto Rico.
