Overview

A fully staffed, high-standard private residence located in Brentwood (90049) is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Houseman to join an established household team. This role supports a single gentleman and works closely with the Estate Manager and housekeeping team to ensure the property is maintained to exceptional standards.

The ideal candidate is proactive, discreet, physically capable, and takes pride in maintaining both interior and exterior areas of a luxury home. Flexibility to support events and occasional weekend needs is required.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (40 hours per week)

  • Flexibility required for event setup and breakdown, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed

Compensation & Benefits

  • $90,000–$95,000 annually depending on experience (equivalent to $45/hour based on a 40-hour workweek)

Key Responsibilities

Exterior & Property Care

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of all exterior areas including gardens, walkways, driveways, patios, and pool areas

  • Power wash, sweep, scrub, dust, mop, and polish exterior and interior support areas

  • Clean windows, skylights, and glass surfaces as needed

  • Maintain garden, pool, and exterior equipment in proper working order and store neatly

  • Remove trash and recycling according to household protocols

Housekeeping & Event Support

  • Work closely with the housekeeping team to support daily household operations

  • Assist with heavy cleaning, deep cleaning, and project-based tasks

  • Support event setup and breakdown, including furniture movement and space preparation

  • Assist with post-event cleaning and restoration

Household Support & Operations

  • Assist with deliveries and properly store supplies

  • Load and unload luggage as needed

  • Keep storage rooms clean, organized, and properly stocked

  • Perform light maintenance such as changing light bulbs

  • Identify and report maintenance or repair needs promptly

  • Drive the estate vehicle when required, wash and gas 

  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Houseman in a large, high-end private residence or estate

  • Experience working alongside a professional housekeeping team

  • Strong background in heavy cleaning and maintaining large interior and exterior areas

  • Familiarity with cleaning products, tools, and equipment for various surfaces

  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs

  • Strong attention to detail and time-management skills

  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or collaboratively

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Clean driving record and comfortable driving estate vehicles

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, clear command of English
