Position: Facilities Maintenance / Handyman
Compensation: $38+ per hour (commensurate with experience)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility for weekends and holidays as needed
Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance / Handyman / Houseman, reporting directly to the House & Facilities Manager, plays a vital role in preserving the functionality, safety, and appearance of a private estate. This position requires a hands-on, service-oriented professional who takes pride in maintaining high standards throughout all areas of the property.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate broad technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to identify and address maintenance needs proactively. A commitment to discretion, reliability, and teamwork within a private household environment is essential.
Primary Responsibilities

Conduct regular inspections of the property, ensuring all systems, fixtures, and structures are in excellent working order

Perform light maintenance and repair tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general handyman work

Replace light bulbs, air filters, and minor hardware components as needed

Maintain and organize maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment

Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, and service providers on-site, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to household standards

Assist with general property upkeep, including power washing, patio and exterior cleaning, and maintaining storage or utility areas

Monitor lighting, HVAC, AV, irrigation, and mechanical systems; report and address issues promptly

Support seasonal projects such as outdoor furniture setup, pool or landscape preparation, and installation or removal of holiday décor

Assist with household logistics, including moving furnishings, deliveries, and supporting event setup or breakdown as requested

Maintain basic logs of maintenance schedules, repairs, and vendor visits

Ensure the property and surrounding grounds are secure, orderly, and consistently guest-ready

Provide general assistance to the household team with day-to-day operational needs
Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance, facilities, or handyman experience in a private estate, luxury residence, or hospitality environment

Proficient in basic maintenance trades including plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry

Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through

Professional, discreet, and service-oriented demeanor at all times

Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and performing active, hands-on work

Comfortable using smart home technology, handheld devices, and maintenance management tools

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
