A wonderful, down-to-earth family in Denver, Colorado is looking to engage an experienced Housekeeper who is comfortable assisting with light childcare and family support.

This is a lovely opportunity for someone who is looking for a long-term position and genuinely enjoys becoming part of the rhythm of a family and their home. The parents are approachable, kind, respectful, and very appreciative of the people who support them. Their previous household support has remained with them for three to five years, and they are hoping to find someone with the same long-term intentions.

The family has two boys, ages 6 and 12, who are in school during the day. Mom and Dad are very involved parents and generally handle school drop-offs and pick-ups themselves, then carry on to their jobs. 

The primary responsibility of this position is housekeeping and maintaining the home, with the ability to lend a hand with the children when needed.

THE HOME

The family lives in a beautiful five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence in Denver. (80210)

The home is informal and comfortable but maintained to a high standard. We are looking for someone who understands the daily details required to keep a busy family home clean, organized, and running smoothly.

The family also has a beloved Golden Retriever, so candidates must genuinely enjoy dogs and be comfortable working around pets. As anyone who has lived with a Golden Retriever knows, they shed! Vacuuming and keeping floors and furnishings free of dog hair will be part of the daily routine and may need attention more than once throughout the day.

SCHEDULE

The normal schedule is approximately:

Monday through Friday
7:00 AM–10:00 AM
2:00 PM–6:30 PM

There will be a break during the middle of the day while the children are at school.

Some flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends would be greatly appreciated depending upon the family's schedule.

The family has taken household staff on vacations and domestic travel in the past, so someone who would enjoy occasionally traveling with the family would also be welcomed.

HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary focus of the position will be the daily care and maintenance of the residence, including:

• Daily general housekeeping
• Laundry for the family
• Washing, drying, folding, and neatly putting away clothing
• Ironing, steaming, and pressing
• Maintaining closets and wardrobes
• Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and maintaining floors
• Keeping bedrooms and bathrooms beautifully maintained
• Changing and caring for bed linens
• Maintaining kitchen and common areas throughout the day
• Household organization and tidying
• Maintaining household supplies and inventories
• Grocery and household shopping
• Target, Amazon, and other household returns
• Running errands and assisting with day-to-day family needs
• Keeping the home organized and prepared for the family's schedule
• Assisting with packing and unpacking when the family travels
• Helping wherever needed to keep the household running smoothly

We are looking for someone who notices what needs to be done without always waiting to be asked. Good common sense, initiative, organization, and pride in maintaining a beautiful home will be very important.

CHILDREN & FAMILY SUPPORT

While this is primarily a housekeeping position, the family would love someone who genuinely enjoys children and is comfortable lending a hand when needed.

The boys are 6 and 12, busy, active, polite, and involved in school and extracurricular activities.

Mom and Dad normally handle school transportation; however, there may be occasions when Mom is taking one child to an activity and needs help picking up the other from soccer, tennis, or another after-school commitment.

Family support may include:

• Occasional school or activity pick-ups
• Driving the children to soccer, tennis, or other activities - on the rare occasion 
• Being present with one of the boys while a parent is with the other

We are not looking for someone to replace Mom or Dad or serve as a traditional full-time Nanny. Rather, we are looking for a capable Housekeeper who enjoys children and is willing to naturally step in and help when needed.

DRIVING & ERRANDS

Candidates must be comfortable driving and have a clean driving record.

The position will involve occasional errands, grocery shopping, Target runs, Amazon returns, and other household needs. From time to time, you may also be asked to assist with driving one of the children.

If you use your personal vehicle for household business, gas/mileage associated with approved work-related driving will be reimbursed.

PRIVATE LIVING ACCOMMODATIONS

For the right candidate, the family can provide private live-in accommodations within the residence.

The accommodations include a private bedroom and bathroom in the walk-out lower level of the home. The space is comfortable, warm, dry, and private.

The family provides the household utilities associated with the accommodations, including:

• Electricity
• Water
• Wi-Fi
• Household food

This could be particularly attractive for someone who enjoys being part of a family environment while still having a private area of their own.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal person will be mature, dependable, loyal, discreet, trustworthy, and honest, with prior experience working within a private home.

Previous live-in experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

More importantly, we are looking for someone who:

• Is an excellent and detailed Housekeeper
• Genuinely enjoys maintaining and organizing a beautiful home
• Can self manage as the family are out most of the day, childern at school and mom and dad at work 
• Is a confident and safe driver
• Has excellent laundry, ironing, steaming, and wardrobe-care skills
• Takes initiative and has good common sense
• Understands privacy and confidentiality
• Is flexible and willing to help outside a narrowly defined job description
• Enjoys being active and staying busy
• Is open to occasional family travel
• Has excellent, verifiable private household references
• Is looking for a genuine long-term opportunity

Mom is originally from Florida and Dad is from Michigan. They are normal, approachable, kind people with strong family and Midwest values. Their home is informal, and they are looking for someone who can naturally become part of their household rather than creating an overly formal employer/employee environment.

They understand that flexibility works both ways and have historically developed warm, respectful relationships with the people who support their family.

Previous household staff have stayed for several years, and ideally they would love to find someone who can envision being with them for the long term—potentially watching the boys grow and remaining with the family through their school years and eventually seeing them off to college.

COMPENSATION

$75,000–$80,000 depending on experience
