A wonderful family in downtown Charleston, SC, with roots in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced and hands-on House Manager/Butler to oversee the management of their primary residence—a 7,000-square-foot home with five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms. This dynamic role also includes oversight of their second home in Austin, TX, and a property in Nantucket, with the possibility of supporting additional properties in the future.

About the Role

The family is professionally active, with Mr. managing a billion-dollar hedge fund and Mrs. expecting their eighth child. Their bustling household is supported by two full-time nannies, a laundress, grounds staff, and a wardrobe management service that coordinates clothing across properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the Charleston home and additional properties.
  • Supervise, hire, train, and maintain the domestic staff, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Coordinate travel and logistics for the family, including passports, vaccination records, and travel documents for the children.
  • Manage household calendars and schedules, ensuring alignment across properties and with the family’s needs.
  • Collaborate with the grounds team and external service providers for maintenance and special projects.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing renovations or property updates.
  • Travel with the family to Austin and Nantucket, and assist during vacations.
  • Must be hands-on and willing to assist the family in any way requested. A multifaceted, high-energy candidate is encouraged to apply.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • High energy, detail-oriented, and skilled at multitasking in a busy household.
  • Strong management and administrative skills, with the ability to coordinate diverse teams.
  • Comfortable working in a household with children (seven, with one on the way).
  • Thick-skinned, charming, and able to integrate seamlessly into a polite and respectful Southern team.
  • Flexible and dependable, patient with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
  • Housing: A private one-bedroom apartment with a living area and bathroom, located at the back of the Charleston home with a separate entrance.
  • Relocation Assistance: Provided.
  • Benefits: Two weeks of vacation, one week of sick leave, and additional perks.

This is an exciting opportunity for a polished professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering excellence in household management.

Scheudle: Monday through Friday, with flexability to work or travel with the family some weekends.
