Job Outline:
Fulltime housekeeper needed for a lovely family in Chicago. The home is spotless, and everything has a place. The principals are highly organized and neat. The informal couple has four children, three away at school and the youngest at home.
The family travels to their Florida home(s) for extended periods throughout the year. The ideal candidate should be able to self-manage, be highly detailed, positive, and friendly without crossing lines, take initiative, be comfortable with pets (dogs), and have excellent prior experience and references.
Responsibilities & Description
- House approx: 10,000 sq. ft., master and private bath. Each child has a room and private bath. The main living areas consist of approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of living space downstairs.
- Friendly dogs small (40 lbs; 6 lbs; 5 lbs; 5 lbs)
Schedule:
Mon - Thurs 9/10am to 5pm
Fri - 9am to 2pm, depending on the family's needs
What the role involves:
- Run errands, order online, and assist with the stocking of all household items.
- Prepare the house seasonally, clean/direct the storage of patio furniture in the winter and then assist with putting the house back together in the spring
- Assist with packing and unpacking, wardrobe management, and the movement of clothes between properties.
- Assist setting the table and, at times, simple meal preparation may be required – prep and go.
- Maintain all existing linens and coordinate with the current housekeeping team to perform weekly sheet changes, seasonal mattress flipping, and repairs to damaged cushions, blankets etc.
- Assist with laundry, and manage dry cleaning – what goes out/comes back policy.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, text, written, articulate
- Everything has a place; the house is very organized, detailed, and busy – lots going on during the day with contractors, deliveries, etc.
- The house is a traditional, full-service home: housekeeping, laundry, and turn-down service.
- Assist with spring cleaning and take the initiative when the family is away from residence to take on projects.
- Candidates may need to stay over when the family travels. Possibly take care of the dogs, house-sit. Candidates would be paid extra. The family is very fair.
- Keep an eye on the home when the family travel during the holidays.
