Full-Time Caregiver – Manhattan, New York
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Caregiver to support a kind, retired surgeon residing on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Our client, age 99, remains mentally sharp, articulate, and polite. He enjoys engaging in chess, watching classic movies and basketball, and reading medical journals.
Position Overview:
The primary focus of this role is to assist with daily routines, monitor well-being, and ensure safety throughout both day and night. While our client remains independent in many ways—he feeds himself, uses the restroom without assistance, and manages his personal hygiene—the ideal candidate will provide thoughtful support, engage when welcomed, and respect his need for quiet and privacy.
A full-time live-in companion is also present in the household and is responsible for cooking (primarily Eastern cuisine) and housekeeping. This role requires five days of live-in coverage, typically Monday through Friday, including overnight support.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with morning routines and ensure safe transitions from bed to standing.

Monitor personal hygiene to help maintain consistent and safe habits.

Provide fall-prevention support throughout the day.

Remain alert and available during the night in case assistance is required.

Offer companionship through conversation and shared activities such as chess or classic movies.

Respect the client’s desire for solitude and quiet when preferred.

Enhance quality of life through patient and unobtrusive presence.
Requirements:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent caregiving credentials.

Prior experience caring for elderly clients, preferably in a live-in setting.

Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

Ability to monitor the client’s condition and respond appropriately as needs arise.

Strong observational skills to ensure overall safety and comfort.

Availability to commit to five days per week of live-in care, including overnights.
Compensation:

$100,000 – $130,000 annually, depending on experience.

Private bedroom and bathroom provided within the home.

Full-time, year-round position with consistent hours and stability.
