Residential Property / Estate / Farm Manager

Location: Hudson Valley, New York, USA

Essential Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with indoor and outdoor maintenance.
  • Practical knowledge of machinery and large equipment.
  • Strong staff management and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate external contractors.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Please note: This position is open only to candidates who are already authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

About the Role:

Our long-term clients seek a new Property Manager to oversee their estate as the current employee prepares for retirement after 14 fulfilling years. The property serves as the primary residence for a professional couple, with adult children who visit occasionally. The principals travel overseas regularly.

Located 100 miles north of New York City, this 200-acre historic farmstead in the Hudson Valley features a main residence, multiple outbuildings, greenhouses, and barns. The land includes extensive woodlands, fields, ponds, and well-maintained flower and vegetable gardens, all protected by electric deer fencing. The gardens are cared for by a full-time team of two, with additional seasonal staff from March to November.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise estate staff, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Work alongside the existing team and oversee external contractors.
  • Maintain and operate a variety of farm machinery, including tractors, mowers, trimmers, hedge cutters, and chainsaws.
  • Assist with estate maintenance, including repairs and landscaping.
  • Support the owners in reintroducing a small herd of Red Poll Cattle and caring for existing chickens—livestock experience is a significant plus.

The outgoing manager will remain in the role to provide a comprehensive handover and training period before retiring in late 2025.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $115,000–$130,000 per year
  • Housing: A fully furnished three-bedroom cottage (families welcome)
  • Additional Requirements: Excellent references, clean background check, and a valid driver’s license
