Part-Time Household Manager – Private Apartment | Chicago, IL

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (12 hours/week guaranteed, paid regardless of workload)

Compensation: $50 per hour

Overview:
A private family is seeking a Part-Time Household Manager to oversee the care and organization of their 7,500 sq. ft. apartment in Chicago with stunning water views. This role is ideal for a polished, detail-oriented professional who brings both structure and warmth to the position.

The successful candidate will have regular communication with one of the principals and report to the Estate Manager of another property within the family’s portfolio. Professionalism, discretion, and a proactive attitude are essential, along with a personable approach and ability to anticipate needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough weekly walkthroughs to identify any needed repairs or attention items

• Maintain household inventory; purchase supplies (in-store or online) using provided lists and preferred brands

• Keep all areas of the home clean and well-organized, including closets, drawers, kitchen, and laundry areas

• Maintain and organize the principal’s closet; restock coffee and other daily-use supplies

• Manage laundry needs, including household linens and towels, on Tuesdays and Thursdays

• Perform light touch-ups between housekeeping visits (e.g., pet hair, smudges)

• Meet and supervise service providers for home repairs and scheduled maintenance

• Regularly restock household staples and grocery items; prep the kitchen ahead of the principals’ visits

• Organize the refrigerator and pantry, discarding expired or unused items

• Monitor elevator and coat closet for dry cleaning deliveries; organize and store accordingly

• Coordinate and send out dry cleaning as needed

• Run errands (e.g., clothing/shoe repairs, department store pickups); track and follow up as necessary

• Supervise the cleaning crew; wash, dry, and store their supplies post-visit

• Maintain organization of cleaning supplies and housekeeping materials

• Schedule and oversee Pet Patio deliveries

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a private household or similar residential management role preferred

• Impeccable organizational and time management skills

• Friendly, polished, and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills

• Ability to work independently and take initiative

• Comfortable working around pets

• Familiarity with Chicago vendors and service providers a plus

• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred for errands

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience. Set hours paid weekly, regardless of workload.
