Live-in Barn Manager - PLACED
Barn Manager needed for a professional facility located in Canton, GA, just outside of Atlanta. This role is for a hands-on manager with professional expertise and experience in the equestrian world.
The principal has 11 horses total.
- Five horses are mini horses
- Six dressage horses
- All horses range in ages from 7 to 28 years old
The ideal candidate will be mature and have experience competing in dressage or working in a dressage stable.
Duties include:
- Overseeing all care of horses- medication administration, wrapping, clipping, grooming, bathing, etc.
- Paying attention to the horses daily, knowledge of normal horse behavior and health
- Knowing when a horse is in distress or ill
- Feeding and watering
- Cleaning stalls
- Cleaning all tack and equipment
- Scheduling farrier and vet visits
- Operating heavy machinery
- Letting the horses out in the mornings and bringing them in at night
- Communicating with other staff, contractors, etc.
- Inspecting perimeters and fencing
- Filling in holes found in the fields, pastures
- Regular assessments of the facility
- Oversee daily operations of the facility
This role is located at a high-end equestrian facility. The principals have zero tolerance for drama or strangers on their property. The Barn Manager will not be permitted to have visitors on the property, including in the provided housing accommodation.
A 400-square-foot cottage is available for the candidate.
- $60,000 per year
- Housing provided
- 20+ years of experience in the equestrian industry required
- Prior experience as a Barn Manager
- Knowledge of hand tools would be advantageous
- Valid driver’s license
- Must pass a criminal and MVR check
This position does NOT allow the candidate to board their horse on property.
