ASSISTANT PROPERTY MANAGER

Private Residential Estate | Aspen, Colorado
Salary: $100,000–$115,000 DOE + Benefits + Subsidized Housing

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Property Manager to support a substantial private residential estate in Aspen, Colorado. This is a full-time, year-round position working directly with the Property Manager and an established estate team.

The ideal candidate is somebody who genuinely enjoys being hands-on and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful property to the highest standard. We are looking for a practical, technically capable professional who can troubleshoot a property issue, manage vendors, operate equipment, assist with a repair, and help lead the grounds team through the demands of an Aspen winter.

This is not a desk position. The successful candidate should be equally comfortable reviewing a contractor proposal, troubleshooting an HVAC or property system, operating a skid steer during a snowstorm, or simply rolling up their sleeves and helping wherever needed.

Responsibilities

Property Systems & Maintenance

  • Monitor and assist with the maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, water, and other residential systems.

  • Troubleshoot property issues and coordinate appropriate vendors and contractors when necessary.

  • Serve as a point of contact for the Savant home automation system, coordinating with technical support and outside specialists as needed.

  • Conduct regular property walkthroughs and maintain detailed records of maintenance needs and completed work.

  • Review contractor and vendor proposals and provide recommendations to the Property Manager.

  • Assist with minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs within the candidate's skill level.

Grounds & Equipment

  • Operate tractors, snowplows, skid steers, and other estate machinery.

  • Assist with and lead snow removal to keep driveways, paths, and access roads safe throughout the winter.

  • Help oversee trails, estate roads, ponds, fencing, drainage, irrigation, and general grounds maintenance.

  • Assist with gravel road and driveway maintenance.

  • Maintain estate vehicles, tools, machinery, barns, storage areas, and outbuildings in clean and excellent condition.

Team & Vendor Management

  • Assist with organizing daily priorities for the grounds and maintenance team.

  • Assign tasks and follow through to ensure projects are completed properly and on time.

  • Manage and supervise vendors while working on the property.

  • Maintain clear communication with the Property Manager and other members of the household team.

  • Ensure appropriate safety procedures are followed, particularly when operating machinery and heavy equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in private estate management, property management, facilities management, construction, trades, or a closely related field.

  • Strong working knowledge of residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, and general property systems.

  • Experience with smart-home technology; knowledge of Savant is highly advantageous.

  • Confident operating tractors, snowplows, skid steers, and similar machinery.

  • Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or construction skills are highly advantageous.

  • Previous experience supervising a small team and managing outside vendors.

  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year-round in Aspen's mountain environment and winter conditions.

  • Strong command of English required; basic Spanish would be advantageous.

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable maintaining logs, communicating electronically, and learning new systems.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Clear command of English, Spanish advantageous.

  • Professional, discreet, dependable, and willing to work as part of a team.

Compensation & Benefits

$100,000–$115,000 annually, depending on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance.

Subsidized housing is available locally, with the potential for on-property cottage accommodation for the right long-term candidate.

Paid vacation and holidays are also provided.

Location

Aspen, Colorado

Candidates should already be based in the Aspen/Roaring Fork Valley area or be genuinely willing to relocate. Given the nature of the position and the winter demands of the property, living within reasonable proximity to the estate is important.

This is an excellent long-term opportunity for somebody who enjoys being hands-on, understands the demands of maintaining a significant private property, and wants to become an important part of an established estate team.
