A unique, long-term opportunity is available for an experienced and hands-on Domestic Couple to join a warm and welcoming private estate in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The principals are an active and gracious couple in their 70s who reside on a stunning 250-acre property featuring a 9,000 sq. ft. French-inspired residence. This is a relaxed, family-style household with a warm Southern atmosphere—ideal for a couple who enjoys country living and values community, hospitality, and longevity.

The Estate & Household

Built approximately 10 years ago using authentic French materials, the home is informal yet elegant. The property includes multiple buildings, including an event barn that is used periodically. There are expansive gardens, raised vegetable beds, fruit trees, and a variety of outdoor amenities, including a large pool and pickleball courts.

The principals’ daughter and her husband reside on the property in a separate home. Two friendly Australian Shepherds are also part of the household, so a love of dogs is essential.

The estate is supported by a long-standing team, including a property manager, housekeeper, trainee housekeeper, and landscaping crew.

The Role

This is a hands-on and supportive role best suited for a couple who works well within a collaborative team environment. While the home is not formal, a strong sense of pride, care, and attention to detail is expected.

The principals travel for extended periods throughout the year, so house management, house-sitting, and pet care will be part of the role.

Primary Responsibilities

 

Exterior Responsibilities

• General property maintenance, including lawn care and weed management
• Comfortable working around horses and livestock; maintaining and cleaning stable areas
• Maintaining barns, equipment, and machinery
• Overseeing and coordinating maintenance staff and vendors
• Operating and maintaining small machinery and tools
• Managing landscaping teams and external contractors
• Driving duties, including trailering when needed
• Hands-on approach to all aspects of exterior upkeep

Interior Responsibilities

• Light cooking, including Southern family-style meals and casual table service
• Assisting with table setting, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and errands
• Driving principals to appointments and social engagements
• Managing calendars, reservations, appointments, and travel itineraries
• Supporting household operations, including light administrative tasks and smart home systems
• Assisting and supporting the housekeeping team to maintain high standards
• Managing inventories, online ordering, and returns
• Assisting with packing/unpacking and wardrobe organization
• Helping train housekeepers on garment care and handling delicate items
• Assisting with bill pay, password updates, and light administrative support
• Supporting pet care when the family travels

What the Family is Looking For

The ideal couple will be grounded, reliable, and flexible, with a proactive and hands-on approach. Prior experience managing both property and people is essential.

Strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a genuine appreciation for rural living are key to success in this role. Candidates with estate, ranch, or agricultural experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Candidates with ties to Louisiana or surrounding states are strongly preferred.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Excellent references and a stable employment history
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Valid driver’s licenses with clean driving records
• Comfortable with dogs and rural living

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $180,000 + (DOE)
• Housing: Brand-new modular home on the property
• Vehicle: Use of a Denali or Lexus SUV
• Benefits: Full medical coverage and relocation assistance

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage
• Approximately 40–50 hours per week
• Industry-standard paid time off
