A lovely, quiet older gentleman is seeking an experienced Live-In Domestic Couple to provide comprehensive household support between his primary residence in New York and summer residence on Cape Cod.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a couple who genuinely enjoys working together, understands the needs of an older principal and is looking for a long-term, stable position in a calm and respectful household.

The principal is a widower who has been on his own for some time following the passing of his wife. He is quiet, reserved, friendly and very methodical in the way he approaches his day. This is not a fast-paced household and would not be suitable for a couple who needs to be constantly busy. The right couple will appreciate a quieter environment, understand his pace and quietly maintain the homes around him without being intrusive.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The couple will work together to support all aspects of the residences, including:

• Full housekeeping, detailed cleaning and general organization
• Laundry, linens, ironing and management of dry cleaning
• Simple daily meal preparation
• Grocery shopping, errands and maintaining household inventories
• Driving the principal to appointments, into New York City, the theater and other engagements, including evening pickups when required
• Managing vendors, contractors and service professionals
• Regular property walkthroughs and identifying maintenance concerns
• Exterior property maintenance and general upkeep
• Pressure washing, painting and seasonal projects
• Light plumbing and electrical repairs within the candidate's capabilities
• Minor handyman and household repairs
• Maintaining tools, equipment and household supplies
• Coordinating larger repairs with appropriate professional vendors
• Maintaining the overall security, cleanliness and presentation of both residences

The New York residence is a substantial older property of approximately 8,000+ square feet and requires ongoing attention. A candidate with a carpentry, construction, handyman or property-maintenance background would be particularly advantageous, as there are projects and repairs that can be addressed over time.

CAPE COD – SUMMER SEASON

The principal spends his summers on Cape Cod, where his children and grandchildren also visit.

The couple will travel ahead of the principal to open and prepare the summer residence, ensuring the home is fully operational, cleaned, stocked and ready for his arrival.

During the summer, responsibilities will include daily housekeeping, laundry, simple meal preparation, property maintenance, family and guest support, errands and ensuring the residence remains organized and well maintained.

Following Labor Day weekend, the couple will assist with closing and winterizing the property. Periodic inspections may be required throughout the year. A vehicle can be provided or rented as necessary for these visits, and all work-related travel expenses will be covered.

SCHEDULE

Generally five days per week, with flexibility required depending upon the principal's schedule, travel, family visits and household needs. Additional hours or occasional weekends may be necessary.

The household is generally quiet, and the position offers a very different pace from a busy, highly formal estate.

PRIVATE ACCOMMODATIONS

Private accommodations are provided in both locations:

New York: Private one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in Riverdale with laundry facilities.

Cape Cod: Private apartment provided for the couple during the summer season.

IDEAL COUPLE

We are looking for a mature, patient, kind and self-directed Domestic Couple who understands how to work respectfully around a quiet older gentleman.

Strong housekeeping and laundry skills are essential on one side of the couple, complemented by hands-on property maintenance, handyman, carpentry or mechanical abilities on the other. Both candidates should be willing to cross over and help wherever needed.

The successful couple will be discreet, dependable and comfortable working without constant supervision. Most importantly, they should understand that this is the principal's home, not simply a property to manage, and adapt naturally to his quiet and methodical lifestyle.
