Domestic Couple or Individual
A full-time couple or individual with diverse skills is needed to support a wonderful, kind, mature lady on her estate in Maryland. The ideal couple will support; cooking, cleaning, laundry, driving, and general property maintenance working with the property manager, who has managed the estate for years.
The Property
The property resides is near Chestertown MD. It consists of a beautiful property on 5 acres of highly maintained area. Access to the property is down a long well-maintained road that services several other homes, mostly used occasionally by residences or farm staff. The owner uses the property as her primary residence, and the owner's grown children visit seasonally.
The Family
The family has owned the property for generations. The highly active 86-year-old principal, her grown children, and their families visit on weekends and holidays. The owner regularly travels to Washington DC, travels domestically, and occasionally internationally. The owner enjoys many long-term relationships with household staff, gardeners, and office employees. The team for this property can expect regular personal contact with their principal and the farm manager. The positions are to support the owner, and the farm manager, and the next generation of the family when they visit.
The Position: Domestic Couple
- Housekeeper and Cook: The Housekeeper/Cook will report to the principal directly. The workload is generally consistent, although it could vary from week to week as described. The housekeeper/cook will typically work an 8-hour day, with hours usually split between the morning (housekeeping, laundry, and lunch) and the evening (dinner and dining service). This Position occasionally requires one weekend day of work, typically Saturday, for entertaining, such as dinner parties. Additionally, the housekeeper/cook may be asked to work a holiday if guests are expected, with prior notice.
- Additional time off during the week will be provided to compensate for needing help during the weekend or holidays, or overtime will be provided, should it exceed the 40-hour work week.
- Housing is offered as part of employment. The property has a new 18 months old 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house available to the perfect couple.
- Gardener/Houseman/Handyman will support the farm manager and the manage maintenance personnel. The role will assist in the house with heavy cleaning, troubleshooting technology, making minor repairs, changing light bulbs, moving furniture, etc. This person may also accompany and drive our client to appointments, dinners, and airport drop off and pick-up. Running errands and assisting with the maintenance of all vehicles on the property, to include insurance, decals, cleanliness, servicing,cleaning etc. of all vehicles is expected.
General responsibilities include:
- Grocery shopping, shop for meals as needed, and personal care items. Maintain inventories, and the general household organization. Order on line, manage incoming Amazon orders and returns.
- Meal preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals with the Owner, including lunch and dinner, five days per week. Cook for dinner parties of approximately six people, typically on Saturdays, on occasion. Clean up after all meals. Ability to follow recipes required, and prior experience cooking meals for others preferred.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized household. Clean the house daily, including hallways, entryways, laundry rooms, and other common use areas. Sweep and clean the expansive porch, dust, vacuum (weekly), and clean the kitchen and bathrooms. Clean bedrooms, and empty wastebaskets as needed.
- Laundry: Do laundry as needed. Generally, light laundry as it is for one person; however, dinner parties will create additional laundry, such as napkins, tablecloths, etc. Laundry includes washing, folding, ironing, and distributing to the Owner or property as needed. Laundry includes washing and ironing bedding and making the beds, and preparing the bedding and guest rooms for guests, when applicable.
- Wash windows as needed (additional help will be provided)
- Health management: Monitoring the Owner's health and administering medication as needed. While an RN is not required, assisting the Owner, who is currently in good health, would be helpful. Having the ability to do more personal care responsibilities in the future if needed is preferred.
- Pet management: Assistance with pet care (one dog) may be necessary when the Owner is not at home. The Owner has a small dog so all applicants must be comfortable around dogs.
The ideal couple will have prior experience working together, outstanding references, and a long-term commitment in mind.
Compensation:
$100K to $150K + D.O.E for a domestic couple - D.O.E
$80 to $90 for an experienced individual -D.O.E
