Domestic Couple – Private Family Estate Live-In | Shreveport, Louisiana

We are excited to once again be assisting a truly wonderful family in Shreveport, Louisiana with their search for an experienced Domestic Couple to join their private estate on a long-term basis.

We have worked with this family over the past year in helping them build the right support around their home and property. Transparently, the family previously hired a wonderful couple who genuinely loved the family and the position. Ultimately, however, it became clear that some of the more hands-on exterior and property responsibilities were outside of their comfort zone, and therefore it was not the ideal long-term fit for everyone.

The family subsequently held off on restarting their search due to extensive travel, family weddings, and other commitments. They are now ready to find an amazing Domestic Couple who genuinely enjoys country living, has the professional experience to care for a beautiful home and property, and is comfortable leading and working alongside an existing team and trusted vendors.

At this time, the family is considering established Domestic Couples ONLY.

The principals are a lovely, active couple in their 70s who reside on an incredible 200-acre private estate with an approximately 9,000-square-foot French-inspired residence.

While the property itself is impressive, this is not an overly formal household. The family is warm, down-to-earth, respectful, and genuinely appreciative of the people who support them.

They are looking for a couple who will appreciate that environment, enjoy country living, and hopefully look at this opportunity as somewhere they could call home for many years to come.

The Property

The approximately 200-acre estate includes the main residence, a beautiful event barn, extensive gardens and landscaping, vegetable gardens and fruit trees, a swimming pool, pickleball courts, multiple outbuildings, and areas designed for horses and livestock.

The principals' daughter and son-in-law also have a separate residence on the property, creating a wonderful family atmosphere throughout the estate.

There are also two Australian Shepherds who are very much part of the family, so candidates must genuinely love dogs and be comfortable around animals.

The family has an established support team that includes housekeeping and landscaping professionals. The Domestic Couple will work closely with this existing team while helping oversee the overall operation and presentation of the estate.

This is very much a hands-on position.

The family is not looking for two people who simply manage from a distance. They want a capable couple who can oversee staff and vendors while also being willing to roll up their sleeves, lead by example, and personally step in wherever needed.

Ideally, the couple's individual skill sets will complement one another.

One person may naturally gravitate toward the exterior property, equipment, maintenance, vendors, and grounds, while the other takes the lead with the interior household, cooking, organization, entertaining, and personal support.

That said, there should never be a hard line between responsibilities.

This is a team environment. If something needs to be done, everyone helps.

The family is somewhat conservative in their presentation. Visible body art would need to be covered and facial or other visible piercings removed during working hours.

The person taking the lead outside should genuinely enjoy being outdoors, working with their hands, and caring for a substantial country property.

The family is not looking for a formal butler-style environment. They want someone who understands wonderful service and anticipates needs while still allowing the house to feel like a comfortable family home.

Working Together

More than anything, we want to find a couple who genuinely enjoys working together.

One day, one of you may be coordinating contractors while the other is preparing dinner. The next day, you may both be preparing the estate for visiting family, helping with an event, tackling a household project, or getting everything organized before the principals return from traveling.

The principals do travel throughout the year. While they are away, the Domestic Couple will play an important role in ensuring the residence, property, pets, vehicles, staff, and ongoing projects continue to be properly managed.

When the principals return home, everything should simply be ready for them.

Experience is certainly important, but equally important to this family is finding two good people with the right attitude, work ethic, personality, and values.

Candidates currently residing in Louisiana or surrounding Southern states are particularly encouraged to apply; however, relocation assistance is available for the right couple.

This is primarily a Monday through Friday position, averaging approximately 40–50 hours per week.

As with any private household position, flexibility is important. There will occasionally be weekends, holidays, family visits, events, or other circumstances when additional support is required.

The principals travel regularly throughout the year, which also creates quieter periods while they are away.

The family understands the importance of taking care of the people who take care of them. They want this to be a reasonable, sustainable, and genuinely long-term relationship for the right couple.
