A private client based in New York is seeking to engage a Live-In Companion to support her 94-year-old mother, who is high-functioning, sharp, socially engaged, and in excellent physical condition for her age. This is a companion-focused role ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys conversation, social outings, and meaningful daily engagement rather than hands-on medical care.

The family is warm, respectful, and supportive, offering a positive and appreciative working environment. They are seeking a long-term match and value kindness, discretion, and clear communication.


Schedule

  • Live-in position

  • 6 days per week

  • 1 full day off per week

  • 2 half-days off when possible, schedule permitting


Responsibilities

  • Provide daily companionship and meaningful engagement

  • Encourage conversation and activities that keep the principal mentally sharp

  • Accompany the principal on drives, shopping outings, cultural events, shows, and social engagements

  • Attend medical appointments and communicate clearly with family regarding updates or observations

  • Assist with light mobility and personal care, including:

    • Showering assistance or supervision

    • Toileting assistance as needed

    • Dressing support (buttons, zippers, footwear)

    • Monitoring trip hazards and overall safety

  • Observe and report any changes in physical condition, mobility, or personality

  • Assist with light household tasks related to the senior’s daily routine

  • Plan outings and activities that promote engagement, independence, and quality of life


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Warm, engaging, and naturally conversational

  • Experience in a senior companion or caregiving role

  • Medical certifications are desirable, including:

    • CNA certification

    • Prior relevant caregiving experience

    • Advanced caregiving or senior-support training

  • Comfortable providing light personal care in a dignified, respectful manner

  • Observant, proactive, and safety-conscious

  • Strong communication skills with both family and medical professionals

  • Clear command of spoken and written English

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Discreet, dependable, and emotionally intelligent


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $85,000+ annually, depending on experience

  • Medical contribution offered

  • Live-in accommodation provided with all expenses covered

  • All meals provided — caregiver is welcome to eat what the family eats

  • Travel with the family to an out-of-state residence as needed
