Caregiver/Companion/CNA - Destin, FL - CLOSED

A lovely Couple in Destin, Florida, is looking to hire a live-in caregiver/companion or CNA.

The primary focus is to care for Mr., who is 86, and currently in a retirement community. Mrs., 80, is independent, manages her husband's care, and has decided that she would like to care for him at home. She feels he is lonely in the community due to somewhat limited mobility and early stages of dementia. Mr. can initially be ornery with new support, so having a thick skin would be necessary. After he gets used to the change, the southern gentleman comes out. 

You will be offered a private room and bath during the five-day workweek. There are two caregivers in place to cover days off. On off days, you will have a private guest cottage. The home is three blocks from the beach, and Mrs. stated that breaks are permitted midday to walk the beach. There is a cleaning team in place, lite daily cleaning is required. 

Atlanta-based candidates are welcome. The couple has a home at the Marietta country club; someone familiar with that area would be outstanding. Local candidates in Destin are welcome.

• Mr. can walk himself 
• He has cognitive decline 
• Needs help with all aspects of personal hygiene
• Needs assistance cutting steak, etc. He can feed himself
• Mr. can climb a couple of steps at a time independently, will take a break, and then come back to it 
• Would need help with changing depends. Responsible for keeping Mr.'s area clean, managing meds, and making sure that supplies are always stocked 
• The couple would like to find a candidate who would like to travel with them on cruises and assist with packing and ensuring that everything moves smoothly
• Should have some medical training but not a requirement 
• Simple meal prep and assistance with lite housekeeping are desirable 
• Must be a good driver
• Be able to communicate clearly, via e-mail and text 
• Must be in good shape
• Must be easy to get along with and without ego, a team player

 

Salary

$700 to $900 a week (Depending on experience) 

Live in - all expenses paid

Possible medical contribution 

Must have excellent references and prior experience in a similar role 

Immediate Start or open to starting in the New Year 

 

Schedule 

Monday through Friday 

8.30 am through 2.30 pm 

4.00 pm through bedtime 

Some weekend support as needed at holiday time
