Lovely opportunity to support a high-functioning 83-year-old gentleman in Far Hills, NJ.
Our client’s daughter contacted us to seek a caregiver with formal medical training to support her high functioning active father, who still goes to the office five days a week. The family has noticed a cognitive decline, lack of interest, and signs of depression and anxiety at times. He has decreased balance, becomes confused in the evening, and may need help with showering and personal hygiene, management of medications, and calendar management in the near future.
The ideal candidate will be willing to support our client in traveling, driving, light housekeeping, simple meal preparation, and acting as a companion to dinner and when traveling. The role requires someone who can self-manage and take the initiative. The principal has two vacation properties, one on Park Ave. and the other in Martha's Vineyard. The caregiver/personal assistant will be expected to accompany the principal to both residences.
As this is a new role, the client is coping with the idea of adding a staff member to his household. We need a candidate who is sensitive to the change in the principal’s life but also thick-skinned enough to weather a little resistance initially. The principal will want to see a candidate prove their value and have an inherent work ethic. This is not a simple taking vitals and charting position. The client is active and expects the ideal candidate to be as energetic as he is, if not more visually assertive and productive.
Our client’s daughter lives approximately 4 miles away and will be an active family member throughtout the week.
There is a private cottage on the property available for the caregiver.
The perfect candidate will have the skills to provide medical care but will also know how to blend in with the client, understand social etiquette, present well, and have a sophistication about them.
Details:
Must be in excellent health, physically fit, ideally vaccinated, and have long-term intent.
Must have an excellent driving record
Must have prior experience working for high-net-worth families in a similar role
Must have verifiable employer references
Salary $80,000 to $95,000
