Butler/Manager, Manhattan, NY - CLOSED
We are seeking a highly professional and experienced butler with formal training and a five-star background to provide exceptional service to our high-profile client. The butler will be responsible for managing the daily household operations, overseeing staff, and ensuring the highest level of hospitality and discretion. The primary focus will be ‘servicing the family’. Highly desirable traits of an ideal candidate include prior domestic management experience along with a knowledge of the city, a network of vendors, and concierge level service familiarity and connections. Captains from one of the surrounding Michelin Star restaurants are encouraged to apply.
While the family are informal in private, there are times when heads of state will use the residence. Therefore, white glove service experience would be an asset for this role.
The family are in residence 3 to 4 months a year. The home is in Central Park Tower, 8,500 sq. ft. with a 2,000 sq. ft. terrace which includes an outside pool --a full-service building. The are two housekeepers and support staff are brought in as needed. The family has 4 teenage children. The home must always be guest ready, and in pristine condition.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of daily household operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and event planning.
- Provide personalized and discreet service to the family and their guests.
- Manage household staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Supervise the maintenance of the home and all its systems, including security and technology.
- Plan and execute formal events, dinners, and parties, including menu planning, table setting, and event coordination.
- Maintain an inventory of fine china, crystal, and silver, and ensure that all items are properly cared for and stored.
- Manage the family's personal schedules, including appointments, travel arrangements, and reservations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the family.
Requirements:
- Formal training as a butler or household manager.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a formal household or a five-star hotel or resort.
- Must be tech-savvy, able to manage calendars and have excellent communication skills.
- Must be without ego, a team player, positive and outgoing.
- Excellent knowledge of fine dining and etiquette.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with high-profile clients and guests.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate staff.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Discreet and professional demeanor, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
